A 15-member delegation of the BMCCI led by the President Mr. Abdul Matlub Ahmad participated in the 3rd World Islamic Economic Forum held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 27 to 29 May, 2007. Besides the BMCCI members, 10 members from Women Entrepreneurs Association, Bangladesh also joined the BMCCI delegation. Their participation to WIEF was also organized by the BMCCI. All the members of the BMCCI delegation including Women Entrepreneurs were extended complimentary participation to the Forum. The BMCCI delegation ultimately joined the Bangladesh Delegation led by Ms. Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, Adviser to the Caretaker Government. In-charge of the Ministry of Industries.
Building on the success of the 2nd forum in Islamabad, Pakistan in November last year, the 3rd WIEF was organized in Kuala Lumpur this year by the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation in association with the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade, the International Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute with the support of the Islamic Development Bank and the Malaysian Government.
The 3rd WIEF was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Malaysia and attended among others the Hon'ble President of Indonesia and the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Kuwait, besides the political and business leaders from OIC member countries.
The Conference concluded with an action oriented programme and was a success. The Conference moved to reshape the image of the Islamic Countries, aiming to relocation of cross -border poverty and violence with trade, investment and financial services with vibrancy and ultimate prosperity.
